The labour at the Docks was a hard one. The people working there, lived in poverty, had no perspective and still they formed the basis for London's and Britain's economical success.
More than half of the people living in the East End were working at the riverside and by 1930 the port and the docks provided work for one hundred thousand people, including dockers, lightermen and sailors. Reason enough to have a closer look at their everyday life.
